  1. Love the picture. Moved up from a 19inch $100 APEX. Would like to know more about settings that others are using to get the best picture quality and Advanced Control menu. Right now I’m viewing in 16:9. Picture mode is standard. I do notice a Audio sync issue when using an HDMI cable and I’ve tried a couple. Have contacted LG about this issue. Paid $899 at FRY’s-1 Day Sale.

I bought this at Fry’s for 899…i’m in California..so that takes it up to 1100 dollars with tax and recycling fee. The tv is awesome. The thing I like most about it is playing xvid/divx from a usb thumb drive/hard drive. I do that very often. I also like streaming Netflix movies. The picture quality is great. Sound is pretty decent. I also use the tv to watch local hd sports. I connect the tv to hd through an Antennas Direct C4. This gives awesome hd clarity. Better than my friends who have comcast/dish. Make sure you connect the tv to internet when you get it so you can get the new firmware….this new firmware allows you to play divx/xvid through usb. If you don’t do that…you wont’ be able to play those formats. Haven’t done blu-ray yet…but i’m sure it’ll be awesome.

  3. I just purchased this television the other day, on sale at Fry’s for $895. This is a really great deal, in my opinion. NetFlix works amazingly; the TV does show the limits of the quality of some of the Netflix videos. Some of the Netflix content is HD…..and it looks great.

I want to address that fact that the reviewer stated that you can’t stream video over your network. Maybe at the time of the review, you could not, but I can tell you it does……without a doubt. Mpeg, AVI, Divx, and Mkv all worked when I streamed them from my Network attached storage device. It is an amazing feature considering I download most of shows that I watch.

The Vudu feature is very nice as well, basically a pay per view streaming HD service. I have not had a chance to watch a movie through the service yet. I have watched many of their trailers, the quality is amazing.

    Pros

    NetFlix

    Vudu

Access to network attached storage devices, for streaming video.

    YouTube

A very robust broadcast HD tuner, my….last set really failed in that department.

    Cons

    Not crazy about the remote…..

It can’t operate other devices such as DVD, VCR, or a cable box or at least I have not yet figured that out.

I don’t like the layout of the remote.

I could take or leave the Yahoo wigets.

  4. This TV is fantastic! I was originally looking at a lower LG model, but Amazon had a great price! This TV arrived in less than a week and set-up was a breeze. There’s a quick wizard to walk through, and once completed, you’re up and running. The Internet connectivity was as simple as plugging in a network cable to the back of the TV. I was already a Netflix user so that was as simple as activating the device and the streaming ability of the TV, in my opinion, is better than streaming through my XBOX 360. The Yahoo Widgets worked out of the box as was nice for basic content ability.

I haven’t spent the extra time “tweaking” the picture through LG’s picture controls, but once I’m done, I look forward to many nights of high-quality HD movies and sports!

  5. I don’t know what else to say. It arrived at my door the first day of a 6 day shipping window. Set-up was simple and straight forward. The TV is not particularly heavy. And the ability to watch Netflix is great. There isn’t a lot of content on instant play yet but this will be in my home for years to come.

This is my first non-crt TV so I don’t have much to compare the picture to. But for $1500 I can’t complain about the hardware. The TV even pulls music and pictures from an external HDD attached to a networked computer that is wireless-g. No big surprise, and the search is manual, but it’s possible. Perhaps they’ll even send an update to stream video at some point. This is capable of becoming a media server in a TV.
