I was seriously considering this TV until i saw it in bestbuy. It had a glossy screen which won’t work well with my den with lots of windows. If you’re in a similar situation, you might want to consider the previous series (46XV545U) which has a matte screen.
I don’t own this TV but I’m still giving it 4 stars because of past experience with toshiba TVs. Took off 1 star because of the glossy screen.

I have been using this item for 3 months with no problems what-so-ever. The delivery was free, and the company unpacked the Television, hooked up the antenna wire input, checked the operation, picture quality and guided me through the setup and use of the remote. All packaging was removed from my house.
This unit replaced a 51 inch projection console.
I do not have cable or satellite, but the tuner picked up all local channels and a couple that were not being picked up with the set top box I was using. I receive signals via a roof-top antenna.
The picture quality is outstanding with the factory settings. There are several options for viewing: default, sports, movie, etc. Each option allows custom settings for picture quality. I used the Spears & Munsil, High Definition Benchmark, Blu-ray Edition, to set the custom settings for each viewing option. There was very little deviation needed from the factory settings. I was truely impressed.
While watching high action, fast motion, content, there is no detectable blurring, shadows or artifacts; at least by my standards. There is an ambient light detection system that helps adjust picture brightness according to room light.
I do not use the on-board speakers, therefore, I cannot attest to their quality. I do use the TOS link out to my receiver and find that the transferred signal quality is very good.
The TV is used for over-the-air broadcast reception via roof-top antenna; a standard, upconverting, DVD player via HDMI; a Blu-ray player, with wireless network access, via HDMI; and a Wii video game console via component cables. There are plenty of other inputs available for any future additions.
The only downside to the unit is the size of the frame: 2.5 inches on the sides and 3.25 inches on the top and bottom. It is plastic infused with a modern design that fades from black to clear, but it may somewhat limit where you wall-mount the set.
Bottom Line: I highly recommend this HDTV to anyone interested in excellent picture quality and value.

I have it for a month or so. It looks and works great. Installation was super easy, colors are fine right out of box to me. We watched several blu ray movies and picture is breathtaking. So far I am very happy with purchase.

i lucked out with the 47-Inch Toshiba REGZA 1080P 240Hz LCD HDTV
Delivered yesterday and Out of box HDMI Color and picture-perfect and not even yet calibrated.
2 yrs ago i bought a 40″ Samsung LCD HD with Best Buy’s 4yr warranty; good thing because the back-lighting started going out in shadowy patches. The GEEK SQUAD guy came ASAP and reported that the “accountants” decided it was more “cost-efficient” to swap the TV than fix it. I got credit for an equitable swap and went to store the next day. I was debating between another (larger) 46″ LDC Samsung or Sony when i saw a 47 “Toshiba REGZA 47ZV650U with Dolby sound. I was never happy with my Samsung audio so that got my attention. (the last Toshiba i had was a tape-deck! so this was a gamble) When i saw it had ClearScan 240(tm) with Backlight Scanning, i said, “I want that one.” (and paid the additional price)
So far my new Toshiba TV is fantastic! (i bought another store warranty. The old days of 20 year working TVs are long gone.)
