I looked at this model in the store, and it was the worst TV in the whole place. I couldn’t believe it. The picture was grainy, pixelated, and there was a severe image lag problem. I’d describe it as watching a really bad DVD rip while trying to defrag your hard drive and run a virus scan. Sure it’s an LCD HDTV, but wow…if it’s a choice between this and a low-def tube, stick with the tube.

My doctor’s office has a Westinghouse LCD and an LG LCD connected to the same source. Suprisingly, the Westinghouse unit actually doesn’t look too bad. It looks better than the LG. No, the Westinghouse LCD doesn’t look as good as a picture tube (CRT) TV, which is why I’d only give it about a 2 1/2 star rating. The picture doesn’t have as much depth and detail as a CRT. But the Westinghouse LCD is generally watchable and much better than most LCDs I’ve seen. (I would give most LCDs I’ve seen 0 stars if I could, and I’d give the LG 1 star.) This really surprises me, as Westinghouse is not exactly a name I’d associate with high quality electronics. But I’d be VERY cautious. With an almost-generic brand like this quality may or may not be consistent between units/models or from year to year.

If you have a picture tube TV that works good, keep it. Don’t replace it with an LCD, as doing so is a downgrade. But the picture on the Westinghouse unit gives some hope that maybe LCDs won’t look as horrible in the future as they generally do now.

We received this TV as a gift in April & love it! It’s got great color, sound & lots of plugins for games/dvd’s etc.

We’ve been very happy so far!

I got this as a second TV. Picture was OK for the price and it was easy to set up, though the cable channel scanning took a loooong time and found tons of empty channels which I then had to delete.

My only complaints: sound was a little weak (didn’t fill the room even at maximum volume), and the HDMI connections were intermittent.

Unfortunately, due to the HDMI issue, I ended up returning the TV and getting a different brand.

More on the HDMI issue: I was trying to use this TV connected via HDMI to a Roku netflix player, but about half the time I selected HDMI source, the TV would either say “Invalid format” or just show a green screen. This problem didn’t happen with the same Roku unit on my other TV w/HDMI. A quick review of various websites seems to indicate that HDMI can be iffy on some Westinghouse TVs.

This was supposed to have a 150 degree angle of view vertically and we noticed when we sit down on the floor (games), the picture seemed darker, but was ok viewing from the sides. Westinghouse said there unit did not darken at different vertical angles and are shipping me another one from the other batch series (A or B I forget), same model# though.
