I bought one June 28th from BB on sale but didn’t get around to really testing it until my media room was finished in August. The remote control would not work unless you stood directly in front of the set and one channel of the audio output did not work. BB said call Westinghouse. Westinghouse said they authorized BB to fix it. BB said I had to send it back to CA from NC. Westinghouse said ok to send it, which I did. Two weeks after they received it, they could/would not tell me the status, saying there was nothing in their database yet, but they would send an email and let me know. A week later I got the same run around, with a supervisor telling me she could/would not call the repair facility to find out the status (still nothing in their database). Again, an email would be sent. Again, I still have no idea when my brand new, 3 month old TV will be repaired and returned. I suspect it is still in the crate or something would be “in their database”. Buyers beware.

  2. I wish I would have done my internet homework before buying this TV. Do a search on the internet for Westinghouse problems. I took the first one back and they exchaged it after having me replace the cables; then the new DVD. Several trips back to the store and 20 days later the second one is doing the same thing. It appears to be a firmware problem. I work in the electronics production field and can tell you this is what happens when Program Managers rush to make sales and or delivery schedules. Now I am stuck with having to ship it to California for who knows how long.

I purchased a Westinghouse TV and within 4 months the TV was broken. At that point I called customer support and they were NOT willing to stand behind thier product. I asked if they found it reasonable for a TV go out in 4 months, all they said was that they could not help me.

I purchased a Westinghouse 2 years ago and the thing stop working. The customer service guy said that the back light was bad and there was nothing they could do. He said sorry but sometimes it happens. I asked that person to have a customer supervisor call me. I waited four weeks and no response. I emailed and explained the issue again. I got a canned response to call customer service again. These TVs are junk and there customer service stinks. I would never buy a Westinghouse again

DO NOT! REPEAT; DO NOT BUY THIS TV!! I own several large screen LCD TVs all within the $1500 – $1800 range. This TV is no comparison to their picture quality or any other performance category. I bought this TV because of the low price and placed it in a room that is seldom used for TV viewing so high picture quality was not the objective. However, any TV should at least be reliable regardless of price. After 4 months of very infrequent use, the TV simply would no longer turn on. Although frustrating, matters became horrible when dealing and negotiating with the Westinghouse Contact Center for repair services. Without going into the ugly details, all I can say is that it took me THREE MONTHS to finally get Westinghouse to stand behind their product. Ultimately I substituted the TV during this ordeal and realized that I should have made the alternative competitive purchase (only for $180 more) in the first place. I can’t tell you how upseting it is/was to learn later that almost everybody had the same problem, in otherwords a manufactured defect associated with the powersave mode. The bottomline is that this is a “low budget” TV; “Low Quality” Picture; and “Low Quality” Service. There are too many good LCD TV alternatives in this price range and for a little more money, substantially better products in all measureable categories. If the picture quality or anything else were better, I would at least say that it might be worth the try as an entry level LCD TV set. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I am not saying this to be mean, but Westinghouse should be ashamed of itself!
